From here, we’ll journey for two hours through the Willamette Valley, heading towards the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, we’ll pass through Lincoln City and Depoe Bay before reaching Newport.
En route, we will explore the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a unique coastal wetland home to a variety of wildlife, including migrating birds, seals, and other marine creatures. This peaceful area offers stunning views of the bay and is a perfect spot for birdwatching and nature photography. We’ll have the opportunity to observe the rich ecosystem both in and out of the water.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a farm-to-table experience at a local restaurant for our tour’s welcome dinner.
Please note: This tour involves extensive hiking on uneven terrain, covering an average of 5 to 8 kilometres at a time, but sometimes more. Elevation changes range from 50 to 1,000 feet, and both touring and overnight locations are situated at altitudes between 5,000 and 8,000 feet above sea level. Due to the physical demands of this itinerary, participants should be prepared for significant activity.

We begin our morning by visiting various viewpoints around Newport, with a special focus on the stunning Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Marine Gardens just to the north. These locations offer breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and abundant marine life.
Next, we’ll embark on a 1-hour sea life cruise, which allows us to experience the incredible scenery of the bay, river, and coastline. Along the way, we may spot whales, harbour porpoises, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and a variety of marine birds. Our knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights about the area, including details about the largest fishing fleet on the Oregon Coast and other unique features of this coastal region.
After the cruise, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal of fresh fish, straight off the boat, at one of the excellent local restaurants.
In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to relax and soak in the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean, as well as to explore Newport. As the evening draws in, we’ll gather around a large bonfire on the beach, roasting marshmallows and enjoying s’mores under the stars.

Along the way, we’ll visit notable landmarks such as Heceta Head Lighthouse, perched on dramatic cliffs with breathtaking ocean views; Sea Lion Caves, home to a large colony of sea lions; Devil’s Churn, where the Pacific waves crash dramatically against the rocks; and Thor’s Wells, a natural geyser-like feature. Our knowledgeable guide will share the rich folklore, history, and natural beauty of the area, highlighting the trees, wildflowers, and other unique features.

After our exploration, we’ll leave the coast behind and head inland, crossing back into Oregon. We’ll conclude our day in the charming town of Shady Cove, a peaceful retreat nestled along the Rogue River.
